Business Development Manager

Position Description

Empower Energies is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager.

This position will report to the SVP, Business Development and work closely with the Structured Finance team. The position requires a self-starting, creative and motivated individual who has a proven history of successful development of renewable energy projects for commercial and industrial customers. Experience with business development for renewable projects for large corporate customers over multiple sites and in multiple states preferred. Knowledge of energy storage, fuel cells, and other renewable technologies is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop an individual strategy for building a pipeline of renewable projects aligned with Empower’s products and services.
  • Develop leads and opportunities for solar energy options and associated capture strategies.
  • Identify and interface with prospects and customers to evaluate and secure new project opportunities.
  • Coordinate internal resources for all leads and opportunities throughout the sales cycles.
  • Coordinate internal resources to analyze market opportunities in various geographic areas, product types and contract structures.
  • Coordinate with the internal engineering, operations, and finance teams to craft proposals.
  • Support internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Provide pricing and proposal feedback to internal teams, whenever possible.
  • Establish strong and long-term customer and partner relationships.
  • Work closely with project controls on project approval timing, construction scheduling, project tracking as part of weekly communications with the Client and other external professionals.
  • Maintain records in CRM for all leads and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of solar business development or project origination.
  • Strong track record in the sales aspects of developing commercial solar projects, managing proposal processes, contract negotiations.
  • A network of solar EPC and/or developer contacts.
  • Knowledge of off-site solar generation opportunities, including virtual net metering and virtual PPA projects. Knowledge of energy systems design and distributed generation technologies.
  • Strong networking and oral and written communication skills.
  • Travel as needed; some evening and weekend work required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with project development tools a plus (i.e. PVSyst, Helioscope, Base, Atlas, etc).
