Finance Analyst

Position Description

Empower Energies is seeking a Finance Analyst. This position will report to the Senior Director of Project Finance and will assist in conducting due diligence, preparing project finance models, and other relevant financial tasks for the development and acquisition of renewable energy projects. This is a full-time position located at Empower’s home office in the heart of downtown Bethesda, a trendy and fun urban neighborhood.   Located at Bethesda’s Metro center, the office is easily accessible by commuter train and includes ample onsite parking.  The building offers amenities such as a fitness center, rooftop employee lounge with outdoor deck, periodic social events onsite, and other tenant benefits such as a local farm-to-office food delivery service through 4-P Foods.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing due diligence on development and M&A project opportunities
  • Work closely with sales team on project specific analysis
  • Run and maintain Empower’s proprietary project finance and valuation models
  • Generate and maintain data rooms for transactions
  • Maintain and update Empower’s proprietary SREC curves and database
  • Support CFO and Treasurer as needed for Corporate finance tasks
  • Support SVP of Structured Finance as needed for Corporate Development and M&A


  • Minimum of a BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related quantitative field; MBA a plus
  • Minimum two years of experience in renewable energy financing or investment banking, or similar fields
  • Demonstrated proficiency creating and analyzing data sets and independently drawing key conclusions based on the analysis
  • Superior organizational and communication skills
  • Strong Excel modeling skills in project finance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Other Key Competencies

  • Passion for solar, renewable energy, and environmental preservation
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop strong working relationships, both with internal teams and with business partners
  • Knowledge of renewable energy and or commercial real estate is highly desirable
