Empower Energies, a leading US renewable energy development and financing company, is celebrating its first anniversary of pledging the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the global workplace.
Taking up a call to action last year by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Empower signed the pledge to demonstrate its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the renewable energy industry. Since that time, the Company has taken numerous actions to make diversity a priority in its hiring policy, promotions, partnerships with women and minority owned businesses and corporate values.
As part of its diversity program, Empower engaged renowned civic leader and diversity consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Rev. Dr. Paul Smith, to lead a series of training sessions for Empower’s staff on unconscious bias. Empower also engaged in an inclusive process which identified the core values of the company – integrity, teamwork, ingenuity, respect, and passion – integrating these values into its culture throughout performance reviews and employee recognition.
Empower’s Senior Management and HR team actively promote its core values and diversity initiatives through the Company’s recruiting and promotional practices. When hiring new employees, we work with recruiters who specialize in finding candidates that bring a diversity of perspectives. As a result, Empower Energies is now one of the few renewable energy companies with a deeply diverse Senior Management team.
